Difference between Iverson and Nash is that Iverson is a shoot first player... Nash is a pass first. Nash makes everyone around him better, but honestly Iverson led a team to the finals that dont even come close to the team that Nash has never brought to the finals. Iverson was the team. Name two players on that team ebsides Iverson (not that hard but many people wont know) and name 2 all-stars that the suns have besides nash... thats a big difference. But on my team is would be steve nash, he is an amazing player, he consistenly gets 20 and 11 a night, with over 50% on both FGs and Threes and 90% from the freethrow line. While Iverson gets 30 and 7 a night, but with around 44% shooting. And when you have two 30+ you should be able to get at least over .500. So Nash is my choice!

In the spirit of the question, it would have to be Steve Nash. First off, Iverson is a good individual player, but he has never really fit well into a team concept, something I think that he could have improved had he stayed at Georgetown longer than a season. He's a quick scorer and puts up numbers, true, but there is an entire league full of people who can take 20-30 shots a game for you (i.e. Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Michael Redd, Ray Allen, you get the idea...)
You can list on one hand the true point guards left in the NBA. These are guys who run offenses, create for teammates on a consistent basis, and know the complexities of offense. Steve Nash is one of those players, if only because of the time he spent around the league working with other point guards. Nash knows the game, nothing makes this more evident than the way he anticipates plays and gets the ball to where his teammates are going to be, much like a quarterback when they "lead" wide receivers.
The one advantage I'd give to Iverson is the defense. Nash is breaking down now and, although he is the MVP when he's on the floor, Nash has had problems staying healthy in the past couple of years and has shown the need to extended rest.
But when you talk about team players and having the best player for a team, then you have to say Nash. He keeps the rest of the team disciplined in their offense and does not take over games unnecessarily.

I'd Take Allen Iverson, Everyone's on steve nash all of a sudden but what's funny is no one was talking about him when he was on Dallas teamed up with Dirk Nowitzki and the other Mavericks, It's so obvious that the Phoenix suns players are who's making steve nash look good not Steve nash, The Phoenix suns play Nash's style of play and that's why he's become a big star there in phoenix but when he was on Dallas nobody talked about him like that why because of the Dallas mavericks style of play, Now Allen Iverson on the other hand is still doing the same thing he was doing in Philly now that he's on the Nuggets and actually playing a little better I might add getting more assists and shooting a higher field goal Percentage, I'd take A.I. in a heart beat steve Nash is just a little bit overated.

dnt get me wrong... Allen Iverson is a great player... nobody puts up the numbers like him. 2 time Defensive player of the year, and he won MVP. When his team is down he can carry them on his back and drop the points. As great as he is... he has an attitude problem. Iverson is not a team leader and he only cares for himself and he could only take a team so far...
Steve Nash is the textbook example of a point guard. He doesnt have all the crossover moves like Iverson but he knows how to dribble and he doesnt lose the ball... He's got great court vision which helps him find the open man. When Nash gets hot and starts scoring, his whole team heats up with him. Nash took the Suns who could barely make playoffs and turned them into title contenders...
Obviously you could see that i would take Nash over Iverson... and for the idiots that mentioned age... Nash just turned 33 and Iverson is 32... Good job

Nash makes his team better. Nash scores when he needs to, and he always finds the open man. He can also take care of the ball as well as anyone in the league.
Iverson is a good scorer, but his shooting percentage is abysmal. He also leads the league in turnovers.
Nash is a two-time MVP in the past 2 seasons. Even though Iverson is fun to watch because he can sometimes post outrageous point totals, no coach in the league would choose AI over Steve Nash right now.
Good question.

Steve Nash. Look at the Suns record with and without him. Iverson's teams are typically around .500 at any given time with or without him.
Nash can also dictate a game better than Iverson. He can score if his team needs it and then there are games to where he will have 10 points and 15 assists if his teammates are hot.
Iverson is primarily a scorer. He can take over a game with his shooting, but he has never trusted his teammates enough to let them comethrough in clutch situations. Perhaps that will change now that he has 'Melo.

Yes Iverson would beat Nash 1 on 1, but the question is who would you want on your team. Nash no doubt, since he makes his surrounding players better. Nash knows how to run the team up and down the court picking plays and making passes better than anyone currently in the nba. He is almost as good as John Stockton.
