Depends what you like to to...check out www.VisitLondon.com for ideas of what will be going on in October and plenty of advice on the old standbys like Harrods, Victoria and Albert, theater district.

middle of the day: covent garden, there are some hilarious street shows there. highly recommended.
also, if you get lucky you'll get to hear some good music. sometimes their god awful, but still entertaining.
