After nine months of fashion school, I realized it wasn't the place for me. I've always excelled in biology and chemistry, I was going to major in biomedical science or pre-medicine if I didn't go to fashion school. I want to take it easy for now and go to community college and then transfer from there.

After community college and transferring into a 4-year university, then I would apply to medical school.

Like any institution of higher learning a community college allows people to succeed or fail. What it allows the strong student to do is to become "the big fish in the small pool". With good grades and strong recommendations you should have little trouble transferring to a good baccalaureate program. From there you will apply to medical school, not from your community college.

I actually started off in a community college and now I'm pre-med at a university. Chances are, you'll probably want to transfer to a university once you're done with the community college so look into what classes you can take at your CC that can transfer (i.e., college credits) to a major university come your Junior year. You should see a counselor also, because they can help you with this information. Starting out in a CC is actually better because being pre-med, you know what the cost is going to be in the future.

I went to community college for two years, then transferred. CC isn't taking it easy, its a "real" college. Perhaps you mean that you won't be a full time student.
Here is what I have learned from tranferring: find a few schools that you are interested. Ask your advisor for the checklist of that you will need to complete for your major. Make sure these classes will transfer. (Take as many as you can that will, don't take the ones that don't) This will save you a lot of Tylenol.

The real answer is: sometimes. Certainly if it is just a semester or two, then NO... but medical schools don't tend to like people who have degrees already. For example, they almost never admit a nurse who wants to become a doctor. It's part of the elitist old-boys club BS. Are you sure you want to work that hard for that little money, and have that little influence on people's well-being? A Nurse is much better paid, when you account for the hours worked.

Well, you can't transfer to medical school from community college. Those usually just offer associates degrees, you'll need a BA or BS to apply to medical school. But 'taking it easy' doesn't show a medical school that you're ready. Medical school is grueling experience that you'll need to be fully prepared for. I'd say, if you're serious about med school, go to a state school first.

you will have to get a bachelors degree before you can apply to medical school, and as far as i know, community colleges dont offer bachelors do they? also, i know several people who piddled around in other areas of study and then decided on med school so they were older than the usual 22-23 year olds applying to med school and they were not accepted to any in the country despite their grades and mcat scores. they had to go outside of the country - most to guadalajara for med school because they said that med schools in the US want young people fresh out of college, best of luck to you...
