If it does cause problems such as cancer, diabetes and premature puberty why didn't all the kids in my generation (1980's) suffer the consequences?

I would worry more about video games and computers than TV. We have yet to see the effect of kids from this generation. and I grew up in the 80's as well and I hardly watched tv and played atari maybe once a month.

It's not just the TV's, it's the sedentary lifestyle that goes along with them. 20 years ago, people had more things to do other than watching telly, and then there were only 3 or 4 channels to watch I would add. Now, most folk have access to 100+ channels, and a TV in virtually every room in the house. Every town now has a McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut for us to indulge in, and we don't play sport or exercise anywhere near as much as we ought to. Yes, excessive TV is at the core of it all but that's just indicative of life in the 21st century.

What a load of crap! IF anything like that was possible, the child would have to be in front of the tv 24/7 and NO kid does that. Who the hell thinks up this nonsense?

T.V. affects kids who have absent parents. If parents are there kids learn right from wrong, if not the opposite is true. Cancer?diabetes? Where do they find these bizarre facts from? How many kids and how many studies are done.

I'd be more inclined to worry about the dumbing down effect on the kids watching too much tv. Get them to read or be creative instead.

You didn't suffer the same you suffered brain damage. That's what they say. yeah right. But still, I do think it is not right for the child, they could do much more beneficial things that just sit there and practice being life couch potatoes.

It sounds like your daughter is gentle. My suggestion may be to chop back her television to three intently chosen exhibits and confirm you WATCH THEM along with her. the sole way for a toddler to observe television adequately and productively is with a confirm. whilst you're sitting along with her you are able to clarify the frightening or unusual issues. At 5 years previous you do no longer might desire to fret approximately her growing to be up disconnected from actual existence. there's a lot of time for her to income related to the realities of the international. confirm you coach her approximately "stranger danger" and so on. and the flaws she needs to comprehend to guard herself and enable something come certainly. you do no longer choose a toddler who's nerve-racking by utilizing each thing because of the fact she grew to become into compelled to handle it at a youthful age. 5 year olds shouldn't watch greater desirable than an hour of television an afternoon. She ought to spend far greater time analyzing, by utilizing herself and with you. distinctive time books are a miles greater ideal thank you to handle frightening issues because of the fact they are particularly much less "sensible". i will enable you comprehend what I tell each confirm searching for television for his or her babies: turn the channel to PBS. Nick and Disney at the instant are not there to help your toddler develop and learn, they are their to make money.
