Converting songs brought on iTunes?

Is it possible to convert songs brought on the iTunes store to mp3? I keep getting an error message

open the itunes and create a playlist to burn them into a CD. then import it again with any program (window media player) to rip it as mp3.

In iTunes : Edit / Preferences / Advanced / Importing.
Click on Importing and change to MP3 Encoder. Good Luck.

Or you can burn the files into Cds and then copy the Cds back into your Pc with mp3 format.
