I recommend reading the book "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser.

It will blow your mind.

It makes people learn to eat poorly. Too many people learn to eat on the run. They eat food that is bad for them. Instead of eating food with nutrition they eat foods loaded with trans fats and empty calories. It has made us a country of overweight people and very unhealthy people. It's easier to stop at a fast food joint, where it's cheap, especially if you have a large family and not a lot of money, then it is to eat at home. Even working people find it easier to stop at a fast food place and grab a lunch quickly, and get back to their desk. It hasn't been a good addition to our society in the US, and it has spread throughout the world.
