I was not quite born yet but any one can find out the effects on WW11 on this country. Shortages of every thing, women working when the men were gone to War , Then the surge of the end when every one could get the GI Bill to build homes..the 40's were memory making for sure.

There is a countless list of effects on the United States of WWII. However, I would suggest the biggest is America's emergence as a global military and political power. With the economic losses by nations in Europe and Asia, America came out of the war with itself in OK shape.
A variety of Americans took up leadership roles in World politics. The creation of the United Nations and construction of its workplace in New York City was not an accident, but the outcome of internationalist thinking in the U.S. Much of Europe looked to America for financial assistance to rebuild in the post-war period (see the Marshall Plan).
I could go on about hundreds of small effects on America, but I think this is the largest in history. We see this effect today around the World. It is at play in the Mideast right now with our Secretary of State shuttling back and forth between Arab states, Israel and European capitals. Before WWII, this would not be the case.

It caused us to realize that living in a bubble wouldn't work. It also reminded us that we could be vulnerable to attacks.
The war gave us most of our modern weaponry. Because we managed to get the technology from the German rocket programs we were able to create working rockets. We also started developing calculators during the war although it wasn't finished until after wards. We also learned to cooperate the different branches of military more effectively. The war helped to stop the Great Depression. There are many other effects but I won't bore you with the additional details.
