I bought all kinds of crap that I didn't need, like 3 thermometers...what was I thinking? I got an ear one, temporal one, digital one...

The bassinet!! We put her in probably about 5 times total, she was so colicky we ended up putting her in a swing next to the bed most of the time til she was about 2 1/2 months old then moved to her crib. That was a waste of $100 for sure.

Blankets, I got her like 10 blankets and then EVERYONE gave her blankets...I have blankets coming out my ears and of course they are ALL pink LOL

I should have bought her some bigger clothes, she outgrew the millions of newborn clothes she had and then one day I stood in front of her closet thinking, "But she had TONS of clothes..." and now I have to go buy a whole new wardrobe.

"What did you spend on the baby that was really not nessesary"
I almost never used the change table I bought when I had my first child and didn't have one for my second child.... didn't miss it.

"what did you forget, that you should have"
With my first child, I didn't get a snugli... when I got one as a gift for my second, I didn't think I'd use it but when he was born, I was so sad that I didn't have it for my first. My son was in that thing all day... I didn't use a stroller with him until he was about 1 1/2 because he was always strapped to me or my husband. He was like a baby kangaroo *lol*... I did dishes with him on my back and everything else with him on my front. When anyone I know has a baby, that's what I give as a gift.

The first time around with my son, we had a major shopping trip, clothes, play pen, crib, bassinet, sheets, blankets, socks up to my head. Toys, good lord my husband bought shoes! Shoes you really do not need! They aren't walking, why buy them if in a month they'd grow right out of it?
We bought a bouncer, and a swing with our second child, which came in handy, some babies like them others don't, I wouldn't buy those unless you can't sooth and or calm baby down and it's a last choice. (They can cost 30-80) Swing or bouncer that is. So honestly if your baby is happy and all is well, I wouldn't buy them.
A would buy a playyard though one with the changing table option on it, I used this with both my kids and set it up downstairs, so when the baby napped or needed changing I didn't have to go upstairs to do it. It's either a playyard with a changing table or bassinet option, I'm not sure which mine ones but it had a small area you could add onto it so you weren't bending down all the way to place baby in, it was at hip height. Those even if they are pricey, are a good investment, folds up, moves where ever you want it to go.
Small pillows, or the boppy, I didn't like that so I used small pillows and put them under my arm when I fed baby.
That's pretty much it we never went out to get the diaper genie or anything like that, and I don't wish I did either hauling out the dirty bag isn't much work, and if you use scented lined garbage bags and even put a fabric softner sheet in the pale before bag it doesn't get that bad. Course you do need to empty it daily, really, not that bad of a job, it gets you moving. I didn't really mind.
I did get new bottles for each baby, (on my 3rd due in 8 weeks!) With a new cleaner for it, I don't buy any of the counter top santitizers (though I do clean alot!) I simply wash them in a big bowl with little soap by themselves.
We really didn't buy anything but what we used, crib, bassinet the play yard, changing table, clothes, blankets.., baby carrier!
And when we had our second we didn't get anything either, we were pretty happy, it's our third right now and I don't think we'd be getting anything else other than clothes this time either.
Sorry if nothing helped,. Good luck!

I didn't use the bouncer because she absolutely hated it. A lot of people got me shoes/slippers at the baby shoer and they are still in the closet. Didn't use the robes that I bought and thought they were oh so cute, because I end up going and getting a normal big towel and pulling her out the tub with that. The best gift I got from her godmother was an exersaucer. Once she hit 3 1/2 months I put her in and it was love at first sight. I didn't forget much of anything except lots of breastpads. I was a milk machine that had no control!!

Anything like small bassinets or things you will only use for 3 months is a big waste of money. For us, even a play pen would be a waste of money as our daughter will not stay in it for more than 3 minutes before she starts screaming to get out. Don't buy 100 outfits, because they don't last long. From age 6months on by for a one year old. Just role up the pants legs.
We bought a nice stroller and a baby carrier. If i knew i would be such a kangaroo mom i would have spent much less money on the stroller. (Haven't used it in months, and now she is starting to try and walk on her own)

Shoes, Moses basket, several tiny love toys for the car in-particular, that were sub-par at best, though their gymini was one of the best things we bought. Too many bottles, we started using the Nuby soft tip sippy cups at about 4 months old and he started using a real sippys and straws before the 1year Dr. visit, which will make any pediatrician happy, they love for babies to be off the bottle by one year. The must haves are pack-in-play and stroller with a carseat that attaches to stroller and an extra car base for second car, we couldn't live without these must haves. Hope this is helpful!

Someone gave us a baby swing that had been lightly used by their baby. My son did not like it, so we never ended up using it. I found that the baby bouncer was a much better item and he just loved it.

I wish I had bought an electric bottle sterilizer. I ended up boiling his bottles in a huge pot of water, which I found to be a pain sometimes. We plan to buy a bottle sterilizer before our second child is born.

Bought this cute looking little basket that can carry my baby, ended up when the baby is inside the basket, basket gets too heavy, useless. Bought too many baby's clothes of the same size, waste of money because babies grow sooooooooo fast.

Dressy outfits. Everyone bought our daughter dresses and she didn't like them. For the first 3 months I swear she was always wearing one, lol. Everyone always thought she was a little doll.

We didn't buy a swing at first, but now she is 5 months...last week my husband made a 8 pm run to walmart to buy one becuase she got so fussy neither of us could take it anymore. You'll learn this point soon if your are pregnant. If so...congrats!

A diaper stacker, wipes warmer, bottle warmer, changing table (we just mostly used the floor!), mobile, full size high chair (get the one that sits on a chair instead)

Must haves: exersaucer, some kind of bouncy seat or a Bumbo seat (these are amazing). LOTS of burp cloths
