I have a laptop with 2 partitions, both Win 2000. I need to reinstall one particular with XP. How do I tell which is which when I get to the bit in Windows XP Setup (the blue screen). Both partitions are the same size.

xp being the later os, it's best on d:

boot-up from win-xp cd

follow on screen instructions

you will be prompted if u wanna install win-xp in c: or d:

select d: & proceed with installation

yeah u can yet u could wipe the force thoroughly and then set up homestead windows xp first then if u be sure to enhance to homestead windows 7 then u can do it afterwards and nevertheless shop the documents yet u cant do it any incorrect way around because it says a extra moderen version of homestead windows is there. I knoiw becasue ive accomplished this many instances and could do it in my sleep mate. :) sturdy luck

They will both have different drive letters, plus make sure they have different names, you can do that in My Computer (just right click, rename). The setup disk will ask you which one to install on.

Each with be labeled with a letter (C:\ or E:\) and XP will allow you to choose which one you want to use.
