Move to the North! :) Or you can visit me in the Netherlands. Or Canada. Any other country more tolerant than the U.S. (sorry U.s. :()

You are who you are and are attracted to whoever you're attracted to. You aren't responsible for who your grandparents "hate" or don't hate, only they are. If they turn out to be so narrow-minded that they wouldn't continue to accept you as their grandchild, that is their loss and beyond your control.

Of course, there's no reason why you have to tell them, is there? Unless, of course, you want to educate them. Their "hatred" is probably a matter of fear and ignorance and a product of the age in which they grew up. Maybe if they really knew a gay or lesbian, their views might soften.

maybe if your grandparents learn the truth about you, then they will reconsider their values. people say they hate gays, but this is just because they don't know gays or understand gays. if they realize that gays are normal loving people, then they might reconsider..

but if not, you can't let them control your life. you are who you are. but don't go rushing out to tell them. wait until there is a real need (such as you dating someone you want them to meet).

Come out and hope that over time they'll become more tolerant and accepting. That's the only way for them to know you and love you. Unfortunately for many, their parent's or grandparent's love and acceptance is near-impossible to gain. My dad did everything he could to live up to his dad's standards and never got that pat on the back he wanted for decades, so it can happen that way. Learn to accept yourself and, if you want to, come out to them and hope for the best.

Be true to yourself. Don't let anyone else run or ruin your life.
