Actually, your local fish or fish pond/garden center can test on site.

I do not know what part of the country you are in so it is difficult to say. I know around here cullagan will test your water on site. your local water authority will also sometimes test for you for a fee, but you get a written result (if it is for legal purposes)

Testing labs are in just about every city. We have Pittsburgh Testing Labs here.

You can look under water testing, Testing facility, Pond fish, Water authority, etc. Sometimes it is as simple to head to the local police station....since they do have calls for "smelly" ground water (More than you realize) they will know the labs and numbers.

Using a mail order way around the water testing can lead to disaster. Most have requirements and will not guarantee results, since when doing a water sample, you need to wear gloves, the tubes need to be submerged with no air pockets caped and taped with the date. A minimum of 5 samples from pond or ground water are needed to get a "range". Outside of that most will not guarantee results or will kick out 2-3 samples because of human error on filling.
(If you are wondering, I am still Certified as an industrial Hygienist. I've done my share of water samples.

Good luck.

Assuming you are in the US look in the phone book for county extension office or county agent under government agencies. The county extension office can provide a wide variety of tests. You might also check local colleges and universities for one willing to help out.

in michigan, we go to the local "extention office". it is the feild office for our college. try a DNR or health dept. it might cost a little bit of $$$ but they are accurate and can offer suggestions to help you balance your water out!
