I am african-american so don't take this the wrong way. Do you think there is a double standard with black organization, schools, etc. I mean, think about it, there are black television shows, black schools, black organizations, and all sorts of other things. But if people were to make white schools, or white television shows, we'd think of it as segregation. I think that this is a great double standard and though I see nothing wrong with it I think people use the fact of slavery and that African-Americans were treated differently in the past to support this. Any thoughts?

You are most likely the first black person to partially agree with me on this. It's true. And a lot a people use the excuse, "My ansectors suffered so why shouldn't we get to rise up now?" Well I have news for those people, a good majority of White Americans' ancestors, except maybe in the south, weren't even in America at that time. Everyone forgets about the Jews, who suffered WAY more. And blacks were not they only ones mistreated in this country. When the italians came, now one would gives them jobs, they were mistreated, and that is where the Mob was born. No one would let them work, so they started to use voilence to get what they wanted. The Irish people came when they were KICKED OUT of their country and when they arrived, their where signs posted saying "Irish need not apply." Same story with "Pollocks." When they're was slavery in this country, most people who could afford to have slaves, were of british decent. So why are "whites" grouped together as one? Why is it the "whites" fault? White people come from all over the world, not just England. And FYI, the british didn't single the blacks out, they have been terrorizing countries and races since the beginging of time. You dont see Jews going around blaming their lives of things that happened way before they were even born do you? What about Italians? Or the Irish?

No, because the reason black people have things like organizations and BET is because we didn't have those things before. Back then when racism was of extreme relevance black people didn't have a chance of getting into colleges and black people weren't shown on television or the movies in a very positive light. So black people don't have those things to exclude other races, we have those things because we were being excluded. No one would give black people an opportunity back then so we made are own opportunity.

without a doubt. White Americans seem to have a guilt complex because of slavery. My great great grandpa owned slaves but I never have so why should I feel guilty about that?

People seem to forget, or maybe they never knew, that it was blacks that sold the slaves to the white slavers. Tribes in Africa always had slaves. Take a village and the residents were your slaves. Not just blacks though. The Bible is a perfect example. The Jews were told to take a city and either kill everyone or make them your slaves.

Slavery is wrong in any event but you can only pay for a wrong so long. I think over 100 years is long enough.

Unfortunately for the blacks in this country times are a changing. They are being replaced by Muslims. Anything Muslim is fine so you had better not say anything bad about it.

I am sick of this political correctness. This is America, live like it.

There are tons of shows with all white cast, and there are schools that are all white , also you have to remember that the organizations that black created were because we were excluded from participating in the white organizations and I certainly don't think that they should be disbanded because a few folks think that we have achieved racial harmony

i was one of the first whites to be shipped to an all black school,so i know about racial oppresion.the school and teachers were better than i had ever seen.thats when i learned about violence,i had never experianced random assaults before.this reguards a double standard...yes...as for segregation, its welcomed by all ethnic groups.ever seen a white skin at a black panther march.or a black skin in the barrio.muslims cant marry outside their tribe(the penalty is death)white skins like diversity because its easier to seperate from monoritys,if not on racial lines we can seperate by class

It is a giant double-standard, but that's how it goes. It seems a little insulting to the minorities. If you're not white you don't have to score as high on the SAT or ACT to get a scholarship. Why? Are non-whites supposed to be dumber? It seems very insulting to me. We should totally eliminate the question of race or ethnicity on all applications for jobs and colleges. At least this would cut out some of the bias. Then you'd just have to worry about the interviewers not being racist.

But it is a double standard and does not seem fair, but nothing ever is fair.

it relatively is sexist and nevertheless rather racist. that's no person's corporation first of all. And the reality that interracial relationships are judged in line with meant purity values, superficial reasons is rather irritating. I published a query final evening on Honor Killings. A Palestinian guy and his Brazilian spouse murdered their daughter for no longer in basic terms getting a job yet through fact she persevered as much as now a black boy. yet her father's spouse is Brazilian. some human beings sense that's shame or dishonor to their family individuals to mate with different races, yet many situations it style of feels unforgivably incorrect while the ladies persons do it, greater so than the adult men. It form of brings lower back historic previous, adult men will stand via one yet another as they have consistently had means, the place through fact the ladies persons did no longer have the comparable rights.

The fact that we were segregated is the reason for black colleges and universities. I dont look at it as a double standard but I can see how it can be taken as such. Personally I dont think the reason for black schools or television shows is to exclude white people but to embrace our culture together. Unlike BET and HBCU schools when white people had their own businesses and schools they strived to keep blacks out for many ignorant reasons. I'm quite sure youve never heard of a white or any other race being turned away from black schools, businesses,or television networks.

i've always thought of this as a double standard. I am not black, but I have many black friends and when I raise a question about this they tend to get defensive, which is stupid.

Black people have these organizations because white people dominate everything else. Back in the 60's 70's and even 80's we weren't allow to go to these organizations.
