We only talk about sexualized images in the media and how they effect young girls. Well, there are some pretty sexualized images of men in the media as well; ripped muscles, no shirts, underwear models, the whole "Pimp" image. Why don;t we ever talk about how these images impact young boys and young men?

There is a couple of reasons why we don't talk about it as much. The most obvious point is that in order for girls to reach the sexualized images they taking on much greater health risks. But men and women are wired completely differently. A boy sees a "Male be this image" and doesn't particularly internalize it as his dream body. A woman sees the comparable image for a females body and feels worthless if she does not attain the image. Now I would say that the sexualization of the female body is extremely detrimental to young boys as far as their view of women and how they should act and dress. Visualization is one of the biggest areas of playtime for a grown man. However, the younger a boy gets thrown lustful images the more set in his habits he will be by time someone teaches him right from wrong about women and how to treat them.

Because it effects young people. Not many people are conscious enough on 'young people'
It does effect. I grew up looking at these adds thinking if i had no abs i wasn't normal.
If i had no tall, muscular body i was not man enough. It does effect. But sooner or later the young one will learn...
But there must be a control on how the media portray cause some young ones will take drastic measures to look like these "models"

He did not flood the earth and then regret it! Please get your facts straight. Humans are made in God's image so that scriptures that say "become imitators of Him" can make sense. We have been made as free moral agents, with a power of reason and the capacity to develop and live by the qualities mentioned at Gal 5:22. The Bible says: Be wrathful - yet do not sin. It clearly shows that wrath can be acceptable - but not like in people avenging themselves today. Jesus had a passionate anger for the house of God - he chucked the money mongers out of the temple - not a fit of rage - a zeal for righteousness.

I think women parading around weighing 85 pounds with gigantic fake **** and technologically enhanced facial features is a little more damaging than a man with a six pack on a billboard. And I don't know how many little boys look up to pimps....

But I do see your point. I just think girls have it a little harder.

Growing up, I saw the images and portrayals you describe.....but I never felt like that's what I had to be like to be accepted. I think there is a far greater pressure put on young ladies to "fit the mold" than there is on young men.

~EDIT~
I grew up prior to the whole "pimp, gangster" era........I think there is more pressure on young urban males to be "thug or gangster" than male model and rippling abs.

Good question. Especially since that whole "I'm so pimp, you're my bit ch" attitude directly affects young women - probably even more so than "sexualized images in the media".

Because that's what women actually want. :P

No, probably because in our male-dominated, testosterone-driven world, it's still considered a moral crime to admit weakness if you're a man.

Men think women are insecure and look to men as a source of stability, etc. The truth is, we're all pretty insecure when it comes down to it.
