What do you like? What do you know? Are you into video games, music, or cars? Describe the impact video games or MTV has had on American culture- maybe you are aware that 20 years ago, 10 year old girls dressed their age, but today they dress like teenagers because this is what they see on tv. Describe how pistons work in a car if you are into cars. If you skateboard, write about Tony Hawk and the effect he's had on the skating world. Hope this helps!

Assuming this is for an English class, I'd go with a book that you've read this year. Think about what caused the initial conflict of the book. The effect is the rising action, climax, and resolution.
Your teacher might be impressed using and deepening your understanding of a book you've read in class.

Depending on your grade level, there are many topics you could use... Cold War, Great Depression, westward expansion, cause and effect of the Pony Express (that might be a fun one to do, I just did that with my students, very interesting). Hope this helps a bit!
