wear anything layered. most office buildings are very cold inside during the summer from the air conditioning so anything you can easily put on to keep warm at work and take off when you get outside is perfect. also, if your not wearing an actual suit then your probably not going to look too formal. always check out what the employees are wearing to get a good idea of how your expected to look...or not, since most co-workers dress on the same level unless they are in a higher position like manager, director, ceo, etc. here are some ideas that should work at almost any job:
sweater sets - short sleeve tops with a matching sweater
dress pants - anything thats not jeans or sweat pants, and get colors that can go with most almost any color top such as black, gray, or beige.
blouses with quarter length sleeves - button up shirts that are lightweight and loose fitting with sleeves that dont come all the way to your wrist and stop midway at your forearm, or just below your elbow
skirts ranging in length from just below your knees or calves - there are all kinds and they go great with sweater sets. there are some nicely designed ones made out of breathable fabrics for the summer and made to still look professional, yet informal. plus you can always dress it up or down according to your shoes, tops, jewlery, and accessories
get a long, thick sweater you can wear over your clothes everyday to keep you warm and comfortable while indoors without looking like your about to leave or just came in if you were wearing a jacket or coat all day
get comfortable shoes that you can wear all day without hurting your feet yet still look stylish and not therapeutic. i love my ballet flats which are basically shoes with no heels that look like ballet slippers and usually only cover the outer edges of your feet. there are several different styles to choose from and colors, plus you can wear them all year long! if you must wear heels, get the shortest length possible for comfort. there are some good inexpensive ones out there but the higher the heel the more you'll probably have to pay for comfort.
congratulations and good luck!

I'VE BEEN IN YOUR POSITION!!! I would wear nice pants, not jeans, shorts, or knee shorts!!! Nice BEIGE or dress pants. A nice top. Depends on where you work, you could wear a polo, or maybe something a little more nice. But nothing less dressy than a polo! For the summer, if you're allowed, i would wear a nice pair of open sandals. If you put something together, but it just doesn't seem dressy enough for you, just add accessories. Like a nice leather bag, a belt, or jewelry. You'll look stuffy if you wear your hair puffy, have big glasses on, or just have way to much going on in your choice of clothes . To look less stuffy, try to stay away from bright red, or dark lipstick. Try to stick to a light colored lip gloss. If you need hair help, just wear it down natural (if it looks nice) or you could curl or straighten it. If your in a rush in the mornings, just simply pull your hair back into a bun or something. Still looks nice as a bun! ALWAYS try to wear earrings, it makes you look really nice. IF YOU NEED MORE INFO, EDIT YOUR Q AND LET ME KNOW. I'LL CHECK BACK SOON! HOPE I HELPED!!!
ABOUT THE SANDALS!!! CHECK WITH YOUR WORK PLACE TO SEE WHAT DRESS CLOTHING AND SHOES ARE ALLOWED AND AREN'T. SOME PLACES DO ALLOW SANDALS... SO CHECK IT OUT.

First off, look at what the other people in that office wear. Second, you can't go wrong with some black pants and a nice shirt. Just know what to stay away from: miniskirts, half-shirts, super low cut tops, and you'll be fine. Seriously, just go to Target and take a look at the Ready to Wear department.

Invest in some summer lightweight blazers and slacks and mix and match......Also buy some mix and matchable shoes in solid colors like beige and black and brown....Another thing I do in summer is where like a black shirt and black pants both light weight and then add a scarf or a colorful pin to dress it up. Best advice is to look and see how others dress and then you will know if it is a casual office or a dressy one.

depends on the office....my office is a jeans and nice shirt kinda place......I've worked at a shirt and tie place too. If its an office it will probably be Air conditioned, so the only time yoou'd have to worry about being too stuffy would be the ride home.

Wear dark jeans with violet, pink, greens, yellows, blacks, red and whites for tops(button ups, stripes, tanks..no sleeveless). Khaki's are great as well. Pair them with browns and whites even pastels. Invest in a (black and brown, white and gray) pants, casual jackets. They go with every thing. You might also want to wear flats(basic colors black, white and brown or navy )... on your feet all day. No flip flops. Get good buys at Kohl's, Express, Gap, Old navy (Jeans only) and Limited.

I often wear dresses that are knee length with flats, and a light long sleeve shirt. Long skirts and and a tank top with a id sleeve shirt is good also. I prefer my outside shirts to be button up just in case.

for your first day in a job always wear proper office attire (shirt, trousers, skirt, high heels). Its purely out of respect. Afetr that, just dress the way everyone else does in the office.
