There is a key that sounds like it has fallen out of place or broke. You'll need to take the crankshaft pully (AKA harmonic balancer) off and look for a grooved slot in the crankshaft. There should be a key in there (it''s typically a tiny piece of metal that is usually semi-circular in shape) the harmonic balancer fits over the key and prevent it from spinning without turning the crankshaft, basically the key makes the crankshaft and harmonic balancer spin as one piece.

It sounds like the key was not replaced properly or possibly sheared?

Harmonic Balancer has seperated. Replace that and everything will be fine. It can be tough. Make sure you have a nice set of pry bars, strong (air) impact wrench and posibly a torch to heat it up. DON'T TORCH IF YOU HAVE NEVER TORCHED ONE BEFORE! You can burn out the seals on the crankshaft. Have a professional heat it if needed.

I would be very suprised if the crankshaft itself wore out. It's just a large hunk of metal really. It can't wear out. It can break.. but only if you did something really stupid.

the crankshaft pulley is worn out. it has a piece if rubber mest between the two metal pieces. when the rubber worn out, it will spin freely. once you remove it, you will notice the metal pieces become loose
