75 can be divided by 5. Therefore it is not prime.

2007-02-20 02:47:49 · answer #1 · answered by Kilroy 4 · 0 0

75 is not prime, it is divisible by more than 1 and itself. It is divisible by 5 (5*15 = 75).
A good rule of thumb is that numbers that end in 5 or 0 (other than 5 itself) are not prime because they have 5 as a factor.
Hope this helps.

a prime number is a number whose only integer factors are 1 and itself.

75 = 3*25, so both 3 and 25 are factors of 75, so it is not prime number, it is a composite number.

Composite. It's not prime beceause it's divisible by 5, among other numbers. Any number ending in 5 is divisible by 5, and is therefore composite (except for 5 itself of course, which is prime).
