Would I have any problems if I install a firewall/anti-virus program that says its compatible with Win2000 and XP but doesnt say anything about VISTA.

I don't know about uninstalling but you can disable it from the control panel/security.

In Vista, Microsoft improved the built-in Windows Firewall and it now blocks outbound and inbound (new) web access.

If you want to try something a little more powerful, google for: Vista Firewall software. I hear Kerio is pretty good, but I haven't tried it because I use a router. Routers work way better than any software firewall, because any program running under Windows is only a secure as Windows is---hmmm?

Yes. You can install a firewall for XP.
