I used to get offended when foreigners make fun of Bush and even Clinton, even though I don't really like either of them that much. But then I could usually "retaliate".

But some people go absolutely nuts, like when you make fun of their royal house or a goofy third world president. Can't we just laugh at our leaders?

A leader is representative of his community. He has large followers. You have right to disagree with the person but you have no right to make fun of him. I am not American but I feel offended if Americans (others also) make fun of Bush. He is holding most prestigious office of the world and has great responsibility for protecting United Nations charter. Obviously he is responsible for safety and prosperity of his own nation. Political decisions results some times are not as expected. Perception of some Americans about third world leaders is poor. Living with dignity is right of every person.

They wouldn't like it in a democracy, probably because they voted for them. Otherwise, it's probably because when you make fun of the leader, you are making fun of the country they live in. Personally, I don't care when people make fun of Bush.

Its like fighting with your brother, its okay for you to hit him but not others. Its one thing for you to insult the leader of your country its quite another for a foreigner to do the same.

Some people, think that certain subjects are taboo. Like your religion, your politics, your Mother and it used to be your sex life. It was a respect issue, but anymore everything seems to be fair game.

Patriotism: a feeling of love and devotion to one's own homeland and everything in it.

Think about it this way. Would you get upset if someone bad mouth your family.. it is like that, much bigger. But you gotta love you country to do that

well it's kind of making fun of the people because they chose them, or you can look at it this way, you can criticize your parents, sister, brother....but if someone else does it you get enraged.
