I think it's the media that is obsessed not Americans, it'll blow over once they devour every aspect of her life, or a new tragedy comes along. Now that we have news 24-7 it is hard to find new stuff to talk about.

Thank you, I'm about to ask a question now. Why do people outside North America ignorantly think we must be obsessed about something because our media reports it?
Dude, Our media reported for ages on O.J. Simpson too. It doesn't mean we all were obsessed with it. It's just the big entertainment story right now. Before Anna Nicole, it was Katie and Tom's baby. It's no different than British news reporting David Beckham going to the United States, then British sports analysts talking about the impact of it on the premier league for the next nine weeks.
Our media tends to take one big story, and beat a dead horse with it. Give it time, because I'm sure the next story they'll beat like a dead horse is right around the corner. Don't believe in what our media says though my friend, because many Americans see our media as a heavily opinionated source of information and look to get our information from better sources.

I am NOT obsessed with her. I am sick and tired of hearing about her in the news.
We also spend too much time on sports heroes too, and I am sick of that too.
There are so many other things to be concerned about in the whole world. There is a lot of news from Africa, South America and Asia that does not seem to be important to the media. Maybe if we paid more attention we would understand how the people in those places have to live.
Thanks for the question!

I completely agree. I don't like to speak ill of the dead, but she was really trampy. Her mother looks like trailer trash, and could not stand her until she died. Anna was always on some kind of drug high. She needed pills to go to sleep, and she needed pills to help her get up. Now maybe her daughter can grow up in a better environment.

Ahhh, another generalization. Im American and don't care one bit about her death, Aaliyah's death, Tupaks or biggie's death. And for the record I dont care about Princess Di's death (yes, I know, thats England) but it was a big deal here. These deaths have no effect on my life and dont know why it effects anyones life that dosent have a personal bond with them. I dont think its all americans, or necessarily, even most Americans, just those who bury their noses in those PEOPLE magazines.

I am not obsessed, I am tired of it and I wish the media would put it to rest. It is an embarrassment.

I think media thinks that americans really do care, when we don't. and so the media keeps talking about it, and no one really cares.

I personally think it is because of the similarity to Marilyn Monroe (except for the kid part).
Personally I had enough when she was alive and I am really tired of hearing about it now.
