How can we get the power back into the hands of the people? How do we undo the things that have destroyed our Constitution and restore fundamental American values?

Perhaps I should state that pretty much everyone in Washington is corrupted by corporate money. C'mon, we all know that. I need something solid. ...Except maybe Ron Paul.

1- Make it illegal to accept any gifts, dinners, favors, money, anything from anyone. Take the money out of politics and the wrong people will step away from it.

2- All bills passed should be separated from any riders--a bill about "X" should be only about "X" with no extra, silly clauses, mentioning "Y" - that might be time consuming but not meeting with corporate lobbyists would maybe free up some time.

Can you define fundamental American values? Why do people think at some point in time the government was perceived as less corrupt than it is now? It isn't, it's always been like this and always will be.

Positions of power have always attracted the wrong people, and people with power use it for their own short-sighted dealings. It will never change, everyone has their own priorities and it will never be the good of everyone else. That being said, it could be worse. If this place was so bad, then how come so many illegals keep coming over?

There's really only one way: FIRE 'EM ALL!!! The people on Capitol Hill are all part of a political machine that is motivated by greed and back-room deals, so our elected leaders really don't care about "we the people" and what's best for the nation. But even getting rid of all of our elected leaders won't do it. We would have to replace them with people who are not affiliated with the two major political parties; people who are motivated by doing good, not people who covet power. If we could ever do this, the first thing the new leadership would need to do is call a Constitutional Convention and spend a year or two clearly defining what rights our citizens have (and DON'T have), what the government is responsible for (and NOT responsible for), and hammering out a list of rules that holds our elected leaders to a higher standard. That would be a start.

Everyone cannot have their own ideas and have a government that will govern correctly. The good old boy attitude runs rampant in polictics. If you start taking out your foundation then the building will eventually collapse. There must be a solid foundation for government. There must be rules that apply to all people not just some. We see that today, laws only apply to certain people and not all. Thats why this country is crumbling from within. We need to get back to the foundation that this country was built on. Only the children growing up now will be able to do that. The adults are to involved with themselves and instant gratification.

Unfortunately we can't!

We have allowed all of the politicians - Republicans as well as Democrats to "establish" their own private Political dynasties and they are locked into them for life!

Congress started getting way out of control when the American people stopped hanging Horse theives and allowed them to be bribed by the Special Interest Groups years ago!

You have to remember that "we have the Best Governent that Money can Buy!"

i admire the belief, and that i can work out the factors. My element is, human beings hated Bush quite plenty and he grow to be in basic terms in workplace for 8 years. 10-15 years will provide the government greater then sufficient volume of time for propaganda. Hell you are able to desire to relatively have a conflict in 10-15 years. i'd propose each 3 years. no count number what timeframe have been in, or the place have been at. there is often going to be corrupt company ***** working shite backstage

How about electing republicans? They are the ones who stand for the people. Liberals/Democrats want to turn America into a communist society by any means available to them. Nearly all of the things they are for have been tried in other countries and have been proven that they don't work. Like free medicare. They have that in Canada. You have to wait about 6 months to get to a doctor. Then when you finally get diagnosed you have to wait even longer to get treated. Some guy even went to a vet and signed in as Fido to get an MRI, he was so desperate. It turned out he had a brain tumor and real doctors didn't have any room for him to get an MRI. Is that pathetic, or what?
