I am writing a business plan and this information would be really useful. I am trying to get an estimate for the number of sports clubs, amateur dramtic societies, political societies everything really.

The last organisation I worked for was an umbrella organisation for voluntary and community groups in Cambridge City and S Cambs. We had about 700 groups on our database, but they would not have included amateur dramatics, political or many sports clubs - just groups like playgroups, organisations providing services to disadvantaged people, conservation groups, local history and village socieities, village halls, etc. That might give you a hint of the size of what you are asking. If you look on the Charity Commissions website, all the England and Wales charities are listed there and somewhere on the site, it might tell you how many there are.

Hundreds of thousands. Universities alone have like nearly a hundred each, then there's local, regional, county wide and national.
