Without using profanitiy, I will attempt to ask how I would go about defeating the Gil Snapper in Final Fantasy 12? I have attempted many times (I'd say about 20, no exageration!) and I have come close several times, but have had my "shell" handed to me. The last time I had it in my reach and got ambushed from behind by a regulation turtle. It's what I get, I guess, for not getting rid of the other ones before attacking GS!
(The sounds you hear from far away are my frustrated howls!)

I hear ya I think I tried at least 20 time before swearing and giving up for the time being and then i left to level up and continue the story a little and came back later. I dont remeber what level I was when i came back but I do remeber having no trouble after leveling thats really the only advice i can give but it doesn't matter because even after you beat him you cant get the reward until the rainy season is over so there is really no rush to defeat him. Sorry I couldn't help more but being a high level is the only way I could beat him.

The Gil snapper only shows up by itself when it is raining really hard. Are you sure you are fighting the Gil snapper? There is also the Seeq who helps you in the fight-if he's not helping it might not be the Snapper. Anyway, to beat him you may need to level up(I know, terrible advice) but also you can equip black belts to keep from being stopped or disabled(i forget which). I am a self proclaimed level wh*re and spent some time grinding out the levels and I didn't have too much trouble but it still takes awile and if you dont have the black belts, you may want to get them, they help a lot.
