This was an Jr.amature team in the New York "MJHL". They had some kind of connections with the New York Rangers.

I use to play with the Green Leafs in their first year of existence. It was one of I think 6 teams that made up the "Met League", at its inception in 1966, which was started by the New York Rangers. Sometimes we would play before the Ranger game at Madison Square Garden. What a thrill it was to hear my name annonced over the loud speakes there,..., Green Leaf penalty to #4,**, 2 minutes for ruffing. It looks like it was lost in history, I don't see any reference on it now, not even listed as one of the old teams in that league. In 1968 there was talk of the NHL expanding, we all saw this as an opportunity to get drafted by one of the expansion teams, but I got drafted by Uncle Sam's team, as war was still draging on in SE Asia. Some of the players in the league did make it into the NHL because of that expansion, to be some of the first Americans to play in the NHL.
