HI am European and i am not familiar with FDA inspection of food for infants in USA. I am concerned because my infant wants ONLY non organic Gerber meat jar food: Turkey Rice, Chicken in Gravy, Vegetable Chicken, Chicken noodle... only those few jars.
From Organic jars he is forcefully vormitting.... I have no idea why.
I still a lot breast feed him so i know he is getting all nutritions from there but daily he gets about 2 - 3 jars of Gerber named above. I am concerned about hormones, antibiotics and pesticides in this food. Isn't that FDA (or other org) tested and approved as it is in Europe?
My baby is spitting as well home cooked food. He is almost 11 months and he is such a way. Can't eat solids too much, immediatly vormitts. he is great size, got teeth late at 9 months, very alive and healthy baby... Should i be concerned about Gerber meat products?
I by myself usually prefer organic food... but my baby does't yet... Please advise. Thank you and have a great day!

if you are breastfeeding him and are concerned about organic food, you might try "sea food" that being food from the sea, its very healthy and FILLED with healthy things for infants. kelps, algaes, and other sea foods are a great addition to your diet, and if you are breastfeeding, your babies diet.
If your baby is vomiting everytime he eats certain foods, you should not feed him those foods anymore and you should see a nutritionist. there are many you can see for free (at your local wic office for example)
I found some very good healthy recipes here http://healthyfamilydiets.com i tried two of the the recipes for SEA VEGETABLES because alaria is very nutritious and i wanted to know how to prepare it. I just started getting into stuff like miso seaweed kelp and algae but i am starting to feel better already! i hope this helps you out
oh, also there is a section for healthy desserts too! I am going to try and make the fresh apple cake!

Baby food is one of the most regulated and least processed and sprayed of all US foods, but I have not been able to find out the level (if any) Gerber uses of hormones, antibiotics or pesticides in its non-organic products. I would not be overly concerned at this point. He will be eating these items for maybe the next 6 months. Once he is on table food, you will be able to control were/how the foods were grown/processed.
BUT since he is also spitting up home cooked food, I think he's telling you he does not like the other foods. It may sound strange, but taste and feel in your mouth the foods he likes, and then try to make something similar, especially in texture. See if he will eat it. If he eats it, that's your answer. It will take longer, but he will start trying other foods.
My first was (and still is) a VERY picky eater (and got teeth late as well). He stayed on 2nd foods until almost 18 months. We offered, but he did not want other food. It's a texture issue. Then as a toddler it seemed like he lived for months on bread, milk, and juice. We discussed it with his doctor and we were told it was a normal toddler phase.
Good luck.

As a farmer, and as a person with common sense and the ability to research and read studies, I can promise you there is no nutritional difference between organic foods and non organic foods. In fact, all studies show that the way both foods effect the body, even on the long term, is exactly the same.
When we grow food to sell we look for ways to sell organic food, but I promise you the joke is on the consumer. We charge a ton more for the same damn stuff, the only difference is the ground its grown in, and what is sprayed on the plants.
Its a healthy diet that counts.
The FDA regulates all foods the same. Especially infant foods and formulas.
He's probably vomiting up the organic food because of the difference in the way is processed and put together. Theres also different things added to each, even the preservatives can be different. And the tastes can differ as well.

I fed my daughter the Gerber jar baby meat dinners, and never had a problem. If your child is throwing up even after home cooked food, I very much doubt the baby food is the cause. I wouldn't be worried about the Gerber meat products specifically, I think you'd be better off talking to his doctor about what is happening, and maybe a reason "why" can be determined.
Also, we just had a recall on some organic baby food, so it just goes to show you are not always safe even using that.

My son started eating jarred food around four-five months old and I just fed him until he was full, whether that was a whole jar or half jar. Forget the food pyramid, all kids are different and a hungry baby is hard to deal with. My stepmom is old school and believed if a baby is hungry, you feed them. I took her advice and my son is just fine now at 8 months old. Just try to get him to eat at least three times a day with some sort of schedule. It will get easier with time. Also with introducing the solid foods, he will drink less milk. I normally feed my son cereal and fruit for breakfast, a vegetable and some fruit for lunch, and some of the mixed stuff (veg/meat, fruit/veg) or meals (mac/cheese, meat/veg) type foods along with a fruit for dinner. Sometimes I will even give him a bit of cereal before bed if he is up late and won't sleep. Don't worry, I am sure you are doing the right thing!

They do test food, but that's not enough in my book. I'd keep trying with the homemade food. I don't trust those companies at all...and meat in a jar is just gross to me.
