I am a Southern Baptist so I already give up things 365 days a year. No smoking, drinking, dancing, movies, card games, etc. I've heard that alot of ppl give up chocolate for Lent. Another popular item to go without is meat (beef, pork). I am not sure that giving up diet soft drinks is a good idea-- does that mean that ppl will consume more drinks full of sugar? Maybe they can drink some green tea-- full of those healthy anti-oxidants and no worse tasting than black coffee.

I am not for sure yet
Just any snacks or junk food in general.
I usually try to do something extra for people during Lent too.
I try to get someone to go to church that has not been in a while volunteer at a soup kitchen, you know the things that we probably should be doing all year long anyway.

I'm giving up all soda (and not just for lent..i'm completely giving it up), tv (same deal...i'm going to try watching less senseless, mind rotting tv for good), and cursing. giving up cursing is actually turning out to be a lot harder than I thought it would be. Apparently, I have a much dirtier mouth than I thought. But, hopefully I'll be able to quit cursing all together. Good luck to everyone!!

I am going to give up soda, junk food, and anything bad for me. I'm going to go to church more often and pray more. I'll be more involved with my school work and I will study everyday for the spelling bee. I know it's a lot but even though it will be hard, I will try my best. We can give up chocolates together.

Have not decided yet.
and, Michael, here's a question for you: Why are you so quick to to make fun of someone belief's, yet, your kind "atheist", are always the first to complain if someone says something about how you believe?

I grew up in an orphanage (the catholic one so I do not endorse them.)
I will worship the Son of God as prescribed by the Bible and not by an organization that wants quantity over quality.

I'm giving up laughing at the ridiculous things believers do for their imaginary beings, such as giving up something important to them.
Oh wait... I'm an atheist and do not have any primitive beliefs. I'm not giving up anything.
Instead of giving up something that doesn't matter, why don't you try to do something that does matter to make this world a better place?
