Because cheerleaders are popular and the guys want to date them and the girls want to be friends with them. So its a jealousy thing for the ones that cant do either.

No, this is not the truth (to the person above me). Probably because in all of the movies, the cheerleaders are the popular sluts and preps. I know, it stinks to be a cheerleader and have everyone judge you like that. The media makes it look like the cheerleaders are so awful and bratty and snobby. I disagree that cheerleaders are sluts or preps, because I am one and I am not a slut, though I may be a prep not all of them are. Hope this helps! -Rayna

Well, cheerleaders are expected by norm to be attractive and physically in shape.

Women who are considered attractive and physically in shape are usually preyed upon the most by men.

Whether the woman choses to act on the attention she receives or not, society automatically assumes that it is impossible for any human being - male or female - to resist such temptation.

Whether resistance is possible or not clearly depends on the individual.

Some will dive right in while others will simply want to test the waters out of curiosity and then leave it at that.

Also, remember that just because a person is attractive on the outside doesn't automatically mean that they are confident or consider themselves attractive.
In cases like these, the attention that the female receives validates her attractiveness and therefore boosts her self confidence.

Whether she takes interest in cheerleading or any other activity/sport, let's not forget how hard these ladies work to stay in shape.

If we all took care of ourselves and made the most of what we have, the world wouldn't be full of women that hate other women out of envy.

same reason fat people are stereotyped as lazy and people who are quiet and wear glasses are stereotyped as being nerds. It's been theorized that humans can only cope with a certain amount of information at one time, so in order to be able to deal with more important issues at hand, such as driving a car, we need to classify background information very quickly. Consequently we have pre-selected boxes, so to speak, that we automatically put anything that fits that boxes check-list.

In the case of high school however, its either jealousy or the fact that most cheerleaders propbably are sluts or preps.

Sometimes, it's not a stereotype, but a fact. I believe only recently cheerleaders who focus on the competitive aspect of cheerleading, have been able to shake off this stigma. However, those who join to be around the football players, still will carry on the tradition.

Not all are that way, infact I work with a guy that is actually a cheer leader, believe it or not. People just get jealous of how pretty most cheerleaders are so they try to make themselves look good at the cheer leaders expense.

I have no idea, although, all the ones that were at my high school & college were all sluts. Maybe it has to do with always being around the boys & wanting to party alot ( partying = drinking= getting drunk & doing stuff )

because (no offence) but they date those huge jocks, and their uniforms are supposed to be really tight/ sexy. sorry, but they usually are. and it's just how most cheerleaders are acted out in movies, they are the hot, sexy, home-comming queen, and evry guy in school wants to date her becasue of her body. but, that sometimes isn't the case (many of my friends are nice, sweet cheerleaders!)

That is so not true. I am a cheerleader at my school and none of use are like that. We are populare, prettier, and have a better body but were not sluts we just show of wat we got!!!

Most of the time it's because of what is on T.V. I used to think that it was because people were jealous and then you grow up and it doesn't matter, they all gain weight and aren't so flexible anymore.
