Or travellers as I believe they are known. They often call themselves gypsies or romanies, but real gypsies and romanies don't nick everything when they are there, nor do they leave crap everywhere when they leave.

Well, already we have a mixture of opinions! Firstly, I don't care much for being PC, and I call a spade a spade. I based my question on experience, having been bought up in a Fenland village. Pikeys would turn up for the fruit picking season, all piece work, no tax. The crime rate would go up, garden sheds, vehicles, burglaries, even the veg off your garden would disappear in the night. The only beneficiary would be the local hardware store with sales of security products going through the roof. I recall signs in the pubs which said "sorry, no van dwellers", they were that much trouble. They would roll onto private land with no permission, usually by breaking through gates or fencing. The landowner would have to go the full length of the law to get them off, and they would eventually leave the place looking like a rubbish tip. Costs for repairs / reinstatement of course left to others. To those I have offended, I make no apology. Just try living with pikeys in the field next door.

Why don't you get off questions and go make a list of all the people you hate. Then you could ask all at once and the rest of us could check off anyone we agreed with you on.

Because people have a right to live how they choose. Theft is not the perogative of travellers, there's plenty of other people do it to. As for the rubbish, it's a cultural thing, they leave it to indicate to other travellers it's a good camp site, they find it comforting and homely. One could as why they should put up with other people's tidiness. It takes all sorts to make a world.

Think youre being a bit prejudiced there.Gypsies and travellers are an easy target, and someone to blame when things get stolen or rubbish is dumped somewhere. There is good and bad in everybody, and people who live in houses are just as guilty. You shouldnt tar everyone with the same brush.

I used to feel sorry for them , used to speak to the kids a lot and the day they had to move on i understood why people dislike them so much. They pooed on the walking paths left toilet-paper lying around, rubbish all over and where they dig it out of is beyond me, how to you get so much rubbish out of a caravan, even old car tyres. No, i don't feel sorry for them anymore, i have seen a couple of caravans inside and they were quite posh, larney but they definitely do not have any class, people who respects nature do not act like they do.

a couple of weeks ago,a couple of pikeys offered to knock a large tree down in my back garden,so we agreed a price and they cut it down and took it away, they did a good job too,but after I paid them and they left I decided to rake up all the leaves, I discovered the bastards had stolen my garden rake out of my garage, no telling what else they might have pinched. Once a thief always a thief.

Because we live in a civilized society. You make generalizations about people and foster stereotypes with your own words. One answerer supports burning out their campsites encouraging violence against them. That is sad. We need to work towards a better level of acceptance among different cultures not the promotion of stereotypes and violence.

You don't have to put up with "Pikeys", just ignore them, besides here in America, we had to put up with "deadheads" and "Phish" followers who used to follow the Grateful Dead and Phish, and I imagine they do the same damage. What are you gonna' do, outlaw them? jail them? There's nothing you can do you cheeky Sheriff of Nottingham.

I f a group of people goes to your neighborhood and does what you say,I think it's outrageous that you should be expected to put up with them, and no accusations of racism, generalizations or political incorrectness from others should stop you from saying so.
