it doesn't work if i plug out the cable (power) and it goes blank. it also wouldn't start up w/o the power source too...
wat's wrong and is it the batteries fault?

Sometimes when you leave your laptop plugged in even though the battery is charged it can mess up your battery. I would have someone check my battery (i.e. BestBuy, PC Doc, etc) and if it is a dud buy a new one and educate yourself on your power sources and how to keep them working.

Might be two things:
- Bad battery
- Charger is broken, there might be no contact between laptop and power cable.

Do you have a battery charger? Sounds like a dead or low battery to me.
