Plano is like any other middle class suburban area. They have restaurants and stores galore. You're also close to other interesting suburbs within the Dallas area including Frisco and Addison.

It's about a 20-30 minute drive from Plano to Downtown Dallas. There's not much to do Downtown so this isn't a problem. Most of the Dallas nightlife is in the suburbs with a few exceptions including: Lower Greenville, Uptown, and Knox Street. But other than that, Dallas is very spread out so sticking to the suburbs isn't too bad of an idea. Plano has it's good areas and it's areas that you want to avoid. Some areas are older like near 75 and some are newer like near the George Bush tollway. Do your research but Plano isn't a terrible area to live in as far as I'm concerned and I'm not from Dallas. Chicago born!

It's a very diverse community, full of people with varied religions, languages, etc. It's a great place for raising a family as it has one of the lowest crime rates in the metroplex, and the Plano ISD are ranked some of the best public schools in whole state of Texas.

Depends on who you are and what you enjoy. Plano in and of itself is a fairly large town with varied neighborhoods. It used to be a "new" city but now it is land-locked and sold out.

It's a very suburban family, highly competitive environment. If you look like your avatar it might not be the place for you.
