All these issues can be easily be the consequences for one larger problem. Its not poverty or homelessness (we have the lowest unemployed rates ever and more people own their homes than in the US's history), its not drugs or war even. It is the downfall of the nuclear family. That is a family whose children have a father and mother who work together to bring up the kids. It is not having the parents both work outside the home and have society raise their children. If you make the choice to get married, stay married (infedelity is certainly an excuse, but work it out at all costs if you can). You made the oath of "til death do us part", how about being a man (or woman) of your word and live up to it.

Who is better suited to teach morals and respecting of authority to the youth of the nation. A teacher who spends an hour a day with 30 kids, a child's peer, a politician, a TV program, or a loving parent who can spend several hours a day one on one with them.

WAKE UP PEOPLE. You have no one to blame for the state of our country, than yourself. Take responcibilty for your own actions and teach your kids to do the same. Spend that time with them so they learn what is right and wrong. Show them how a wife and husband should interact together so as to demonstrate that a person can look to fulfill the needs of others without seeking what they can get out of it. Teach them to save for things, rather than just placing it on credit.

For the one who said the issue is that Americans and the US think we are better than the rest of the world, it is because we are. Not as a prideful thing, but as a fact. No where else in the world can become whatever you wish to be. If you work hard and want it bad enough, there is no reason that every single person can become wealthy in one way or another. If you no longer like your job, you have the freedom to go in and say so. Then go out and get a new one.

That most have no clue what the issues are, and those who say they do, may know some, but do not know how they are inter-related!

Our biggest problem is we have stop caring about people and started worshiping money, ignoring the reality of who has it all! And they are few! That is a reason Bush is such an issue: he steals from the poor to give to the rich hoping some will trickle back down to the poor, which is redistribution of wealth! Try making the rich pay taxes and listen to the crying of redistribution of wealth! That has been occurring since this countries inception and has not changed. The poor are used and thrown away so some rich SOB can have MORE! And we blame the poor!

Bush in his current budget is giving tax cuts again to the rich, yet for the 2ND time is cutting the money for veterans Hospital's! The hospitals who take care of a lot of our wounded, especially those who are missing limbs from IED explosions! Can someone pleas explain that to me? Can anyone explain that to me! As far as I am concern, it defies explanation and is exactly what is wrong in this country!

One quarter of American workers have been on their job less than 5 years! And you don't want to know the percentage who have been at their job a year or less!

hi Joe public, greed impatience desiring now no longer prepared to attend unlike our forefathers until eventually some thing will be offered by saving for it. Banks interior the previous not at all loaned money until eventually we had money, which means if we had no longer some thing we would not get a private loan straight forward as that. in simple terms factor a finger in any route there lies the blame. sufficient of money communicate enable me get all the way down to brass tacks or the nitty gritty, Land of the loose enable all adult men be equivalent what a load of cods-wallop can not be performed so why promise it. u . s . is a touch one attempting her acceptable to run earlier it ought to stroll, Appeasement isn't the answer to her problems yet noses to the grindstone. It must be said a nicely conventional reality it really is not any longer what united states of america can do for you yet what you do for the country or some thing like that. "do not i pass on" very last be conscious GREED.

I think it's the way our lives are going. We are taking advantage of new technologies. Sure it's great and awesome but it's making us a little bit lazy on a few things. People use their cell phones for everything. I don't have a cell phone though. I call ppeople from a house, I have an iPod to play music on, & I buy disposible cameras. Also, people are too vulnerable nowadays. People worry about things causing medical problems. New pandemics, new worries of obesity, sicknesses, & worries of health problems from foods or things that did not impose a worry 20 years ago.

Past and present governments have succeeded in making us dependent upon the government for virtually everything. Our personal freedoms have been eroded so much that we don't even know how much we are controlled and dependent on our FED benefactor. Any little problem that people have, what do they do--they expect the government to help. How about taking personal responsibility.? Why should I pay to rebuild a house in what used to be New Orleans? Why should I pay your medical bills. I take care of myself, why don't you?

LOL - this ones an easy one for an outsider...
...it has to be having a great ape for a president!

Seriously, I think America's biggest problem is is lack of compassion and understand of other nations. As a whole, this countries image (but not ALL the individuals within it) is one of a nation that believes it is better than all others, in every way, when in so many ways it is sadly not. All too happy to 'big up' themselves, without being able to even sort out their own internal deficiencies.

Too many guns in the hands of crooks and gangs... not enough in the hands of law abiding citizens. If everyone carried, crime would drop 90%. The problem? Libearal anti gun propaganda and useless gun control laws. "Things would be nicer without guns" (they say....)
Wars always end, druggies and politicians die, Homelesness is due to stupid land use and zoning laws (no tent cities allowed, keep em on the park bench).

All of those things you mentioned are important and yes.. ar problems... but at the moment, America's biggest problem is it's government.

We have a runaway president who is doing just anything he damned well wants, regardless of how many die or how much it costs and now we have a congress that promise3d change and are just sitting on their hands. It is a no win situation for the American public. Time for people to stand up and be counted.

I'm from Canada, but my parents live in Florida for 6 months of the year because it is so cheap compared to here. We visit there and from my opinion the problem with Americans is that they think that they are better than everybody else yet their gun laws (or lack of) kill too many innocent people, you can buy booze 24 hours a day through a drive thu, there are too many buffets, your educations suck ***, what you learn in university, we learn in high school, pot is illegal unlike here in Canada so your jails are full of people, most of you can't spell worth **** and as for writing...yeah ok. Your leaders are mass murderers, everybody in the world hates you, you guys can't play hockey, you don't look after your poor, children have little or no rights, your health care only looks after the rich, your hospitals are privitized, so are your banks, corporations own you, too much violence on your t.v's. I could go on, but your wasting my time.

To the person who said that its a fact that the US is better..HA!!! people in the other countries can do that too..most without discrimination as well. Imagine that! But I forgot, most of you dont know there are other countries, unless they bomb you or your leader needs oil profits. Um, you Americans need us more than we need you. Also, if you forgot how dumb most of you are, we have a t.v. show here thats very popular, it's called "Talking to Americans". Check it out on the web to get a reality check. I really think you need it.

Taking your question literally I think America's biggest problem is obesity. The answer is simple. Put smaller doors on all the fast food joints so that the fat people can't get in!
