Luck is something we contribute to an arbitrary event after it has happened. It is not a cause but more a psychological fallacy.

Interesting question I think luck is a state of mind and is greatly influenced by how you view life and the situations you find yourself in and the things that happen to you.
I think if you are seen as lucky you more then likely have a positive outlook on life so whatever life throws your way you put a positive spin on, someone who would be classed as unlucky could have the same situation but would be bogged down by it and see it negatively.
I have always been told by people and have been seen by people as a lucky person although I would never say it or admit it myself or take it for granted as I always have a fear that luck must run out one day, maybe it doesn't and your spin on life changes so you see things in a negative light therefore making you think your luck has run out? As for winning things that is probably more due to the law of averages then it is to luck as someone always has to win and if you are a constant competition enterer or doer then the law of averages says you have to win at some point and the more you do the more your winning chances increase.

I personally do not think that luck falls into peoples laps !!!! I DO however believe that everyone has the opportunity to make their own luck, by grasping all opportunities that present themselves. You can be in the right place at the right time by engineering it. I also think that an optimist is more likely to be lucky than a pessimist. The optimist will give misfortune a positive spin. So luck is made not bred !!!!!! A lucky person has a positive personality and a positive slant on life. In my opinion..................

Luck is just a word for the things we cannot predict. Being lucky or unlucky is a matter of perception. So, there is no paradox. If people ever get to the point where they don't see things as being lucky or unlucky but just as what IS, then you may consider them as being constantly lucky.

I think luck is just something people are born with. There are people who just know how to deal with things, have good people skills, and get things done, be successful and do well in life and everything works out for them for the most part, have many friends, so to me thats luck. Then there are people who are not born so lucky, they struggle, and get by the best they can. Their off spring could be lucky because they have taught their off spring how to do things, etc, or they could just be born with that gift that many of us wish we had. However just one person in the family could be born with this luck and the others "LUCK OUT" Those are the ones who marry successful, have successful kids, and are wealthy.

I think he means to say that some people experience more positive events than others. A Gaussian distribution even. I am not sure if this is true, but it certainly is interesting to think about someone who, through the random events on this planet, is positioned in such a way that they experience a great deal of providence.

Luck is a word that's become estranged to me in my later years in life, till it became oblivioned into the far recesses of my past. What kind of luck could I have, if in my elementary@high school years, I almost always reach the things i wanted@liked, without much heck@hassle. But later on, the world tumbled upside down. The ones who were lucky were those who were: rapists, liars, smugglers, war@rumor mongerers, landgrabbers, cheaters, dishonest@corrupt citizens of the nation, the greedy@power-hungry, the gold-diggers, dying for fame@glory, no matter if they have killed personalities, identities, including lives.
Is this what they call luck? Yes, they have congratulated themselves for their jobs well-done in spreading terroristic activities like blackmailings, extortions, manhunting activities, and the engineeration of fear factor that breaks@shatters family members@left them all scattered across the globe@las islas, so that it's very much easy to topple them down, one by one. This is the modern definition of the word "luck" in a war code.
For me, I just consider chance@coincidence, grace@hope, and an ample amount of faith@love in one's heart that makes her to find "luck" in its truest sense of the word one day in the near future, if it's not yet considered luck for her having found someone lately, after having him lost for nearly more than a score ago...

I think 'luck' can be genetic insofar as positive thinking and opportunistic behaviour can be genetic. That is to say that in some families it is normal to be negative and to underachieve whereas in others the opposite case is true.
