As mentioned above, Pineapple is supposed to induce labour, however, here is what I found:P
Eating pineapple
Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain which is thought to help to soften the cervix and so bring on labour.
Is it safe?
There is very little available research. Each pineapple contains only very small amounts of bromelain so you would need to eat as many as seven to have any effect. The most likely side-effect of eating large amounts of pineapple would be a severe case of the runs.
Does it work?
There is some debate about the role played by bromelain on prostaglandins, which soften the cervix to prepare it for labour. Some studies actually suggest that bromelain inhibits prostaglandin activity while others think the opposite. Regardless of this, eating large quantities of pineapple is likely to stimulate the gut and bowel and, as with castor oil, could kick-start the uterus into action by that means.
How do I try it?
The pineapple must be fresh: bromelain is destroyed by the process of canning or juicing.

Well, I've eaten almost a whole pineapple myself at least twice while I'm pregnant and I never had any problems, in fact, it helped ease constipation. The tiny amount of the enzyme in pineapples means you'd have to eat at least 7 to get any kind of effect!
it's one of those things I've been craving, who knows why.

Yes, unless it's making you sick. Pineapple is very nutritious. Heartburn tip: pineapple has a stronger, sour, more acidic taste when it's under-ripe. When I eat under-ripe pineapple, I get sores in my mouth. Let your pineapple turn a yellowish brown on the outside before you cut into it. It will be sweeter and juicier and easier on your stomach.

I think as long as you don't gorge in t all day long then it is safe. Whatever enzymes or chemicals it contains I am certain a small amount of pineapple (like a slice or two) can't possibly have enough of it to cause problems.

it is unripe pineapple that is said to be bad in old wives tales - that is because it used to be said that eating unripe pineapples could induce a termination at the early stages of pregnancy - so a woman with unwanted pregnancy would try eating unripe pineapples.
Ripe pineapple in moderation should cause you no harm, particularly this late in the pregnancy.

OK, they say it induces labor. Well I LOVED pinapple while I was pregnant I ate it everyday, nothing happened. In fact alot of those methods they say induce labor doesn't actually work. You're safe. And if it makes you feel better, call a nurse hotline or your doctor and ask.
