They have a larger experience of relationships and problems that can occur. This is a valuable resource which you should use.

Because they have more experience than you and can see the train wreck you are heading for. Because they have been there before, as much as you want to believe that your situation is different, it isn't.

Every teenager since Cain and Able have believed that their experience is unique, that their parent could not possibly know what it's like. But one day they all grow up and become parents themselves and they realize just how stupid and ridiculous they sounded back then and the pray to God that no body remembers that time in their lives.

Ask ANYONE who has ever been a teenager and then grew up.

Your parents are controlling about relationships because they don't want their children to get hurt. They also don't want us to be involved in drugs or smoking. Some parents also have controling over the friends we make. I recently stopped talking to my really close friends because of something they did but I started hanging out with my other f.o.b friends. My mom started asking me about my "new" friends because she thinks they are up to something no good. They are really nice people but some of them smoke. After hanging out with them, I tried smoking too. What I'm saying is just be honest with ur parents about ur relationship, try not to hide things cuz things get worst once they find out.

If the child is under 18 years old, it's their responsibility to guide and protect their children. Their continued control after 18 is good incentive for the child to get out on their own.

Because they are parents. It is their responsibility to "control" your life until you are 18. They are actually trying to teach you to be a responsible human being; you should be glad that you have parents that care.

They don't want you to make the same mistakes they did. What they don't realize is every person has to make their own mistakes to learn from them. Don't worry, someday you'll be on your own, and you might even come to appreciate some of their advice. good luck

Because they have been their, and done that. and they have heard stories about couples, so what I think is that they are hoping by trying to tell you, about not to do this or that, they are hoping you wont make the mistakes they did, or people that they know. In other words, EXPERIENCE!

Because we have been there and done that. You should listen to your parents. They have been in the exact same situation that you have been in. Thank you.
