The irises (the colored part of the eye) need light to darken (change) in color. Usually by 9 months your baby's eyes will have changed color. But as stated by others, this is not always the case.

Then if you have hazel eyes, like myself and my daughter, out eye color changes with our moods. Our eyes are usually light brown, but when we get sad and cry our eyes turn a green-blue.

I have heard that they settle into their final colour by about 3 - 6 months, my baby is 12 weeks and his eyes are still changing, but it takes time.

In theory they say that all babies are born with blue eyes and change colour at 6 weeks.

Eye colour can change a lot so it is really difficult to tell. Lots of babies have a blue sheen at birth that gradually changes. One of my children had blue/grey eyes until she was 4 and now they are hazel.

Just to contradict a previous answer my little boy was born with the darkest brown eyes which changed to blue when he was just over 2 weeks old...... he now has the most gorgeous big blue eyes and is 13 months xxx

its normally between 10 and 12 months when your baby will finally have there true eye colour

It can take from a couple of weeks to a couple of months, depending how strong the underlying eye colour is.

my daughter was born with grey eyes, then they went to hazel and now there brown and she's 8 months old and they still change to grey.

my pediatrician told me one of her children was 18 months before he had his final color. mydaughter is 10 mon. and her eyes look different daily.
