Can anyone tell me what the film was called starring dustin hoffman...all i remember is he was in a prison or asylum and he was beaten and abused by some guard who punched him using a syringe..he eventually escaped using a staff uniform..this has got me stumped real bad and i think it was released around the 70's

Ok Guys it was not Marathon Man..in that film he was tortured by drilling his teeth..the one i refer to had him in an asylum or some kind of institution and the guards/nurses were brutal to him..they hit him using syringes so they left as little evidence as possible..at the end of the film he walked out dressed as a guard/nurse and the guard on the tower spotted him but allowed him to go as he knew what was going on.

Sigh..It is obviously not papillon..in that movie he was sent to devils island and escaped several times ..finally escaping by making a raft out of a sack filled with coconuts..come on guys take a little time to read what i have posted

I believe the movie you're thinking of is Papillon.
