Technically it is NOT legal, but tolerated by Jamaican authorities. Just keep in mind that if you're seen smoking marijuana in public that you stand the possibility of being arrested and charged with a crime. Public smoking in Jamaica is completely overlooked during their Reggae Fest.

its not legal but tolerated. the rastafari religion have strong beliefs in that they gain a certain power from smoking weed.about 50% of the jamaican police force is part of this religion and will let you off but dont get caught by the wrong copper.also it does not grow on the streets it is farmed like in any other country as it is not 100% legal. you can smoke it and have it but if you sell it or smoke it while walking the streets you are gonna be the bi*ch to some guy called norman.

No its illegal, but the law isnt strongly enforced. If your seen with one spliff or joint, the police or what we call babylons, will most likely drive pass or just give u a warning. however if u are seen with a large proportion of marijuana: we jamaicans would say "dog nyam yuh suppa", basically saying your luck just ran out

cannabis grows wild in the street, not much point telling a country that can't smoke it when there are no dealers, they just pick it fresh off of trees

Last I knew you could have it, grow it, smoke it, but couldn't sell it. That was a number of years ago though.

no it is not, and you will goto jail.
I believe there might be some leeway of possession for religious types that it is part of their religion, but not for smoking it on the street.

I don't think so. Many places have the reputation for being pothead havens that are really not so much so when you get there.
