Depend which browser you're using. For FireFox... Go to... Tools -> Option -> Privacy -> Uncheck "Remember what I type in form or search bar". I didn't use much IE7 or 6... So... Try to delete cache like some replied.

CLEAR HISTORY DOES NOT work. It only clears the websites in your HISTORY tab. To delete it, delete your cookies, and temporary files. That will work, I have done it many times.
(For those who think, what I know they are thinking: I just found it very annoying.)

if you are trying to get rid of those porno searches that youve been looking at...kidding...you can turn off autocomplete by going into tools>internet options>content>autocomplete. if you get the new internet explorer theres an option that erases all information regarding internet stuff. including cookies, which can in some cases be harmful to you and your identity

try deleting cookies and temporary files. If that doesnt work and you absolutely must get rid of them. Delete internet explorer and reinstall it afterwards. Im not an expert but if that doesnt work you could call tech support or something.
