chav's, ned's, pikey's....a million names for some people. what is wrong with 'chav's' is the question. to be honest, stood on the street corner in the pouring rain they are quite humerous, the dyed blonde hair has the hairspray washed out of it, the excessive make up starts to run, the hoodies and the trackies get soaked and hang even worse than they normally do, the term 'drownded rat' comes to mind. they are not individuals, they follow a trend, dress alike and think alike and seem to enjoy the the fact that people feel threatened by them. ASBO culture maybe, but it is time national service was brought back as shown in 'lads army' it is very effective.

The whole chav thing is more than just about Burberry caps and Kappa tracksuits, it's a behavioural thing, as if causing offence to anyone and everyone is a good way too live.
I live in an apartment on the main High Street of my town - almost every night groups of chavs hang around outside of the McDonalds just up the road. They harrass everyone that walks by from old people to businessmen to anyone simply not dressed in the same "JJB sports/Cheap gold/faux label" style (i.e. anyone that, in their words, "don't look normal"...). Not a day goes by where you don't see some little chav runt bolting out of the door of a shop clutching something, hotly pursued by a security guard.
To express that "Its not as if they r doin any harm 2 any one by the way the talk and dress!?" is completely erroneous and totally out of sinc with mine and many other people's personal experiences. Most people experience nothing but abuse from them.
Conversely, we can't tar everyone with the same brush, although you have to accept the fact that the majority outweighs the minority, hence the bad reputation.

I dont particularly like chavs because of many things but I would be wrong to say that I don't have any chav friends.

I see what your saying, BUT Chav's are normally people that have been locked up, on bail or have ASBO's, there into happy slaps and childish pranks on the public.

Being a Chav isn't about clothes, you can take a chav out of the Burberry trackie, chunky chains, gold cygnet rings, bleached white trainers and put him into a Saville Row suit and he'll still spit, swear, hang around shopping centres (why?) and abuse and fight total strangers. Makes no difference. They are scum pure & simple.

Go and [try to] use the shops on the council estate where my Granny lives for a practical demonstration.
I doubt if your text speak will save you.

Another label amongst countless others...instead of feeling defensive, people labeled as "Chavs" as well as other labeled groups of people should stand proud...that'll only piss off the general public even more...
Bottom Line: labels are just words--> sticks and stones may break their bones but words will never hurt them...
