Everyone seems to be forgetting that the Black Caps put in a stellar performance, destroying ausi by ten wickets (first time in the history of ODI's) and then successfully chasing down 2 huge 300+ targets. Ausi may have had alot of key players missing but what does this say for their long term future? Maybe the wheels havn't fallen off just yet but they had better check and tighten their whell nuts before the world cup roles around, imagine ausi being knocked out of the world cup by the black caps.....oh wat a dream that would be

They are resting some of their major players before the world cup starts. It will be 51 days long and after the long hard summer that they have had, there was an opportunity to do so here.

When Gillespie, Lee, Ponting, Mcgrath and Symonds come back into the side, they'll be fine. Their only problem will be the fifth bowler. They were hoping to give them a chance to claim a place in this series, but it did not work out did it?

No, just readjustment after some key retirements.
They just need to get the mental game back.
There is still enough talent coming through to keep their place at or near the top, though a year or two of someone else might breathe some life into the sport.

See the difference when an Aussie asks a Pom this question. As opposed to the other way round.
Not even so much as a smirk.

Lol! So they have a few bad one day results and all of a sudden the "wheels have come off"?? By that logic, everybody else must still be trying to invent the wheel!

I strongly feel that whatever happened to the Australian Team is a good wake up call for them to come out of their complacency and comfort zone and start fresh to rebuild their game plan and strategies. The recent defeats have clearly shown them what are their weak points.

Since they are very hard nuts, I feel that they will come back strongly in the world cup.

There main players Gilchrist, Ponting, Lee are not playing. I thing there target is world cup. Thats why they are not working hard in these type of matches. And giving there player rest.
And Hussey is not good captain, he didn't able to control the pressure and lead his team to victory. Ponting has great experience and his decisions are good to take a victory.

Probably not... They have a test series with NZ coming up... they'll build up confidence by trouncing them and building form... then come the world cup... Australia will again be favourites

nothing going on. they are wantly not winning the matches now, because everyone expects that australia's power is weakened and unable to win the worldcup. but they will put full power in the upcoming worldcup. it is a psychological estimation.
