I'm Scottish and proud of it.

I have lived away from Scotland for a fair part of my life and coming back was quite a shock.

Yes we are a very racist nation, not just towards the English but to every nation that is not Scottish, and when I say that I mean Scottish born and bread with every ancestor being from Scotland.

All my family are from Scotland, I can trace back my roots for many generations all coming from Glasgow and Fife, but because I lived away for a while, I don't have a Scottish accent and I was rejected here too. Its a shame as there are many good people out there we are missing out on because of our prejudices,

How long is a piece of string? I don't think the Scots are much different to any other people in this regard. There's good and bad. I'm a Scot and I try very hard not to offend on the grounds of race or religion.

The Scots like to be cheeky, but I think a lot of us would hope not to be racist. There's bad eggs everywhere.

I don't think they are. No they aren't. He probably just had a bad experience with them. I have heard loads of racist stuff from Americans on here, but then again there is over 300 million people there, you're bound to get a few nutters out there. I hear racism from every nationality to be honest. We're all as bad as each other. I was actually talking to an Australian before and he said there is quite alot out there and it's getting worse. So don't worry you're not the worst.

I think you will find racists in every nationality, your mate just got unlucky to meet up with the wrong bunch. But I know he is referring to people who have settled there a long time, expats are always the worst, they move to a different country make it their own and then quickly forget that its not their country in the first place.

A lot of scots are biggotted when it comes to religion for some reason. I worked with a couple of Scotsman once and one of the first things they wanted to know about me was whether I was Catholic or Protestant.

that's not entirely true, you get the odd racists from every nationality and race. besides, one of my university lecturers is scottish but she isn't racist and i've known her for 3 years already. she treats people the same as everyone else. its wrong to pigeonhole or point fingers at a particular group of people, especially those who hail from a particular country and assume because of some idiot who says the english are this, americans are that welsh are etc, it makes all of them racist

I am also a Scot, I don't believe that one bit, we are a very friendly nation, maybe we are a bit racist towards the English, but that's just natural. Total load of codswallop.

Scots aren't racist... they are regionalists... they could care less what color you are... it's where you're from... or where your family is from...

At least that has been my experience with the Scottish people that I have met, being a Scotch-Irish American.
