oh perhaps i should be more specific, i mean was there such a signal flag as i heard the most of the russian tanks except the command unit didn't have radio equipments.

yes the Russians did use a system of flags to communicate ( some thing like the navy ) but in combat this isn't very practical.
The britische tanks did sometimes use little pennants that where attached to they antennas so there tanks to indicated witch unit they where. This was a leftover from the time that this units where cavalry

So you wouldn't shoot at your own tanks. All countries used them.
