some computer guy came to fix my computer and it was a 2001 or 2002 i can't remember but he downgraded it to a 2000 but we can't upgarde it off the internet because now the motem is shot if you have andy ideas contact me

What in the heck are you talking about? Are you talking about the OS? There is a Windows 2000, there is no Windows 2001 or 2002...maybe you mean XP. It amazes me how people provide so little information and expect a solution.

You cannot down grade or upgrade a computer and change the year. I imagine you are referring to the operating system you are/or were running. First, did he change the operating system? If the operating system was change then you need to reload the drivers for all the onboard components relative to that operating system. Your modem is likely not working because the drivers for the modem relative to the operating system you now have is not installed. You need to use another computer and download the drivers for the modem relative to the operating system you now have. Ensure that you download directly from the manufacturer of the modem website. Then, copy it to a cd and install it on the computer in question. Or, have someone do it for you.
