I think the amount of change society can undergo is virtually limitless. Although, I can't see society getting much more progressive. In the western world, society is becoming more and more aware of the need for equity between all members of society. I don't think society is "breaking down" because that's a vague way to put it. Some people might think that society is losing its moral thread, but I don't. Our values are determined by our personal beliefs and if enough people believe in a cause, that belief becomes a value. Our individual belief system affects society by raising controversy and through controversy, we raise awareness.

progress kind of requires change. no change is stagnation, which is not progress. we determine our own values individually.
society has seen a lot of change already and has adapted so far. it's up to each of us to see it doesn't break down.

Changing our way of thinking is what is necessary, until we are able to do that we will never be able to make life easier for ourselves. We create what we believe.
