My search has not turned up any positive results. I assume Anchorage doesn't have much of a warehouse district if any, but I would love to be suprised. In my search for a home I either want a loft or a single family residence - not a condo, townhouse, or ZLL. Thanks for your help!

There's a lot of studio/efficiency style apartments, if that would fit the bill.
I lived in Midtown off off Northern Lights, in a nice 5 story apartment building. The rent was about $600 a month, and for that, you got a decent sized studio apartment, with a galley kitchen, a nice bathroom, and all utilities paid. I don't remember the name, but it was something like the "King's Court" or something like that.
I know you don't want a condo, but in downtown Anchorage, there's some studio apartments that have been converted into condos. They look pretty nice, and they've got that "loft" feel.
No, Anchorage doesn't really have a warehouse district. However, you might be able to find a loft style apartment in downtown Anchorage.
I'm assuming that you don't already live in Anchorage. It's a lot easier to search for property once you already live in the city. You might consider renting an apartment on a short term lease for now, and then looking for something more permanent.
