The German Fifth Light Division (part of the Afrika Korps) was made up largely of tanks and smaller armored vehicles which were able to move quickly throughout Libya during World War II. The Fifth Light was assembled quickly in early 1941 to assist the floundering Italians who were already in Africa. Later that year, it was redesignated as a Panzer (armored) division.
