I was born on February 15, 1983 on the Solar calendar so I belong to the year of the pig. Is that applicable in the Lunar calendar? My friend told me that I belong to the year of the dog since my birthday falls before the Chinese new year in the Lunar calendar. I have believed that I belong to the year of the pig. Someone please shed some light on this. Thanks.

this year is the year of the pig. and in the Chinese horoscope years are counted in 12. so... 2007-12= 1995-12=198> the year you were born
People should take into account the fact the Chinese New Year started last Sunday January 18) so if someone is born before that date... she/he will probably belong to the other year... dog

The chinese signs run from the chinese new year to the chinese new year..
for example, my neice is born on the 2 of february.. so she's not the sign for 1999, she's the sign thats for 1998..
so find out when chinese new yaer is.. then go from there...
