If you start out making assumptions about what liberals believe you won't find out much about either of these issues or why people hold particular beliefs about them. Many of the people who oppose the death penalty are not liberals. More and more Americans are learning the facts about the death penalty and are coming to realize that it is not an effective way to prevent crime or to keep us safe. Here are some verifiable and fully sourced facts about the death penalty. None have anything to do with abortion or being pro life-
Re: Possibility of executing an innocent person
Over 120 people on death rows have been released with evidence of their innocence. Many had already served over 2 decades on death row. If we speed up the process we are bound to execute an innocent person. Once someone is executed the case is closed. If we execute an innocent person we are not likely to find that out and, also, the real criminal is still out there.
Re: DNA
DNA is available in no more than 10% of murder cases. It is not a miracle cure for sentencing innocent people to death. It’s human nature to make mistakes.
Re: Appeals
Our appeals system is designed to make sure that the trial was in accord with constitutional standards, not to second guess whether the defendant was actually innocent. It is very difficult to get evidence of innocence introduced before an appeals court.
Re: Deterrence
The death penalty isn’t a deterrent. Murder rates are actually higher in states with the death penalty than in states without it. Moreover, people who kill or commit other serious crimes do not think they will be caught (if they think at all.)
Re: cost
The death penalty costs far more than life in prison. The huge extra costs start to mount up even before the trial. There are more cost effective ways to prevent and control crime.
Re: Alternatives
48 states have life without parole on the books. It means what it says, is swift and sure and is rarely appealed. Being locked in a tiny cell for 23 hours a day, forever, is certainly no picnic.
Re: Who gets the death penalty
The death penalty isn’t reserved for the “worst of the worst,” but rather for defendants with the worst lawyers. When is the last time a wealthy person was sentenced to death, let alone executed??
Re: Victims families
The death penalty is very hard on victims’ families. They must relive their ordeal in the courts and the media. Life without parole is sure, swift and rarely appealed. Some victims families who support the death penalty in principal prefer life without parole because of how the death penalty affects families like theirs.
Opposing the death penalty doesn’t mean you condone brutal crimes or excuse people who commit them. According to a Gallup Poll, in 2006, 47% of all Americans prefer capital punishment while 48% prefer life without parole. Americans are learning the facts and making up their minds using common sense, not revenge.

While I'm no liberal, I think both should be acceptable. I might even take it a bit further. Executions should be a sentence not revenge. And all sentences are intended to be a deterrent. Leaving these killers on death row for 20 years they all become a different man than what they were. Incarceration will do that. Kill them within a year and the some should even be available to the public to witness to amplify this punishment and a true deterrent placed.
As for abortion. When new borns are unwanted, horribly deformed, addicted to substances or any number possible ailments it's a burden to society. Their lives in most cases are miserable from birth to death. It's humanly right to not allow many of them suffer. I do not believe in abortion as a form of birth control. I do think many states need stricter guide lines. But with that said, it should by no means ever be eliminated.

Look.. stop putting free thinkers into this "liberal" mould which is only ever convenient for murderous republicans..
left wing supporters beleive in freedom of speech freedom of will.. if an abortion is a logical thing to do .. then its fine.. my brother's jewish wife was goign to give birth to a deformed child for example because she took too many drugs in her teens and so they agreed to have it aborted.. it made sense..
Corpal punishment should only be meterd out against people like Bush who willingly and knowingly murder innocent people for oil and personal profits.. and at the same time lie to his own soceity whilst in a position of command.. this is the most despicable of crimes a human being can commit..
Seocndly.. the reason paedohpiles aren't commited to death is not a liberal notion.. since most paedophiles are anglo saxon republicans.. and not christian priests as the media lies about.. most liberals you will find would favor corporal punishment for child rapaists.. but the republicans would never pass those laws at it would mean sending a lot fo their own into prison!!
So i think YOU need ot get a lot fo your facts straight before you post again..

i think of that there are extremely some the form to assist with unlawful immigration. For one, if we make it much less confusing for remote places workers to come back in the time of legally it might very much shrink the style of unlawful immigrants crossing the border. If we do seize an unlawful immigrant they must be purely sent lower back to their domicile u . s . a .. i do no longer understand why conservatives sense that killing human beings is often the respond. one element i come across exciting on the subject of the entire unlawful immigrant difficulty is that earlier we began making this style of huge deal approximately unlawful immigration maximum unlawful immigrants would are available in the time of seasonally do the artwork no person else needed to do and then bypass domicile lower back. Now we've made it into this style of huge deal, taking photos human beings coming around the border etc. that unlawful immigrants won't be able to danger going lower back and forth. this means that quite of leaving while the artwork is long gone, they stay completely and would take jobs that human beings do choose. those strict effects are in basic terms making the unlawful immigration difficulty worse.

Wow. Learn to spell. Seriously.
First of all, as a liberal, the fact that I support the notion that it is a woman's personal decision whether or not to have an abortion does not automatically mean that I think abortion is just peachy-keen. Personally, I don't think I could ever have one. But I do NOT think it is the right of any governmental figure, nor any person but myself, to decide whether or not I should give birth.
Second, as a liberal, I'm all in favor of the death penalty.
So learn to spell and stop generalizing, and then MAYBE people will take you seriously.
Maybe.

Okay, genius what about me? I'm liberal, I'm not religious, I believe in abortion RIGHTS (key word, there), and I believe in vengence meaning I do support killing child rapists, and I hate Hilary Clinton. How does that get "classified"?
