Zimbabwe is an object lesson of what happens when the rule of law is subverted and when private property rights are disregarded.
To go from the prosperous "breadbasket" of southern Africa to a nation of poverty and starvation should horrify people. This is what Mugabe has done. There is no rule of law, only rule of the dictator Mugabe. There are no property rights, there is only the greed of Mugabe and his cronies. No freedom of expression, no political freedom.
And when government becomes such an unstable tyranny, money flees, knowledge flees, investment flees, a country devolves into a wretched, impoverished police state.
The same is true of Cuba, and will be true of Venezuela, just as it has been true of North Korea and every other thug-ocracy around the world.
