My 3 month old baby has a small bronw mark, that looked like a bug bite, then it did not go away and so i assumed it was a birht mark, though i dont remember her having it a t birth. But today it looks more like a blister and feels hard underneath the skin. Any ideas or help? Oh.. i live on a small island and dont have availability to specialist doctors. Thanks

it sounds like it might be a mole. I know two of my children had what looked like a bug bite a few months after birth, one did get all blistered but hard not soft like a blister from say a burn. a few days later it scabbed and came off and there was a mole there. same thing has happened to me...
I took each to the dr office... any change in skin, adult or baby/child should be checked if it changes... sorry, I know you were hoping to just have an answer, but I would be doing you and your baby a great dis-service if I did that.... I can help out with suggestions of what it sounds like, given your discription... in the end... the only sound, reasonable and wisest advise is go to ANY dr., a specialist is not needed.... when you call tell the receptionist the reason you need an appt is due to sudden change in appearance of a mole you do not remember being there at birth.... ask to be squeezed in asap since you are worried (dr. offices will get you in faster) now, some other suggestions as to what it could be?

one option; second thing came to mind here was it sounded like a burn... it does not have to be hot enough even as with an adult, babies can burn easier remember. think back to right before you saw it? if you or anyone smokes (and did so just that one time around baby? or someone babysat that does?) or the bottle might have been a touch hot... hot water splashed while you were holding baby and cooking? just some example/ideas to help get the memory going

or it may simply be a birthmark changing... which again 50% nothing50% something.... I would not rely on internet strangers for my baby's wellbeing with those odds? not trying to be sarcastic, critical..... and I do not understand completely but gather from your question any dr. is difficult...? if so... go to the ER, they will be able to tell you what to do.. if it is worrisome... etc...

again, just stressing, best bet though is to get a dr. opinion... they do not have to be specialists any md fresh from college/intern or with lots of years experience.... they would know if it looked like something to be concerned over (biopsy it) or if it was "nothing"

neither I nor anyone can tell you that it is nothing or something since we can not see it... even if a dr/nurse were here to answer? they would say the same thing; go to your dr. any spot whether from birth or a few months later needs to be looked at if it changes in any way especially

hope it is nothing
good luck

i cant really say what it is but my daughter has something similar but hers is red and not all that hard i asked her pediatrician about it and he said it was nothing to worry about and it would fade with time and it has but if it worries you that much if you have even a general practitioner on the island or a pediatrician they should be able to tell you what it is i hope everything works out ok

you don't need a specialist...just call his/her doctor.. he may want to get a look at it... i noticed that when my daughter was born she had a red mark on her forehead we thought it was just a mark from the doctor breaking my water...well it wasn't...about a month later we woke up one morning and it was raised i called her doctor and we ended up taking her in. it was a birthmark. it was a strawberry birthmark. so just to be sure call the doc doesn't have to be a specialists

I'm not sure what it could be. But I have kids and often go to webmd.com to look up information. Maybe you can try that. I looked, but I don't know how the bump really looks, so you can go on there to children's health. I hope this helps!
